Press Release about Media Chase on Stray Dogs in Belgrade

Stray dog in BelgradeDuring last 10 days a media chase on stray dog has been raised in Belgrade. In this period two accidents happened in which owned dogs took part and an embarrassing situation with stray dogs. These three events were presented by media as they happen on daily basis and covered by sensationalist headlines and articles in which lack of knowledge and competence where obvious when responsible ownership or solving the problem of abandoned animals were concerned. The TV news and commentaries have been full of misinformation and allegations when accusing stray dogs for what owned dogs did. Instead of properly emphasizing the problems and contributing to social benefit, media do just the opposite: they contribute to the growth of violence in general by their call for lynching stray dogs. As it is well known: any violence always provokes just more violence.
